In spite of a rapidly growing population, the City of North Liberty has been operating out of a 2,600 square foot building that had previously been a farmhouse, a pediatrician's office and City Hall. After two years of planning (and several years of hoping), the City began preparing for construction of a new, dedicated police department in 2017.
Police Facilities Design Group was selected as the architect for the project and contacted MMS to complete site work prior to construction. Survey work uncovered potential drainage issues as well as a need to overcome right-of-way obstacles. MMS provided the site plan and final construction documents. The groundbreaking was on April 11, 2017, with construction continuing through the winter, with a planned grand opening in July of 2020.
The new, 16,000 square foot building has a budget of $5.75M.
